  I have read comments from other people in other forums that hint that this new AppX format could support multiple formats, including .Net apps. Let's hope this is true, but even if it is, MS should *really* make this clear from day one. There is no harm in stating that HTML5/JS will be a 1st class citizen (since there are a lot of developers that know this), but there is *huge* problem with making it sound as if it will be the one and only option. And they need to clear up this issue ASAP, not 3 months from now.

  For me, if it is HTML/JS only, that's where I get off this buss. I have never and will never care for HTML/JS, especially not as the one and only way to develop new applications with.

  So, can we get some clarity on this MS?

  we need one platform, one code and one solution to WP7, W8 and also cars , tvs and everything else. Don't tell me this is not XAML, because that's what we led to believe all the time!

  Silverlight is the best development plataform, HTML so limited, maybe allow HTML choice , but main plataform must be silverlight

  I really _HOPE_ that Ballmer was joking when he said that and that he only wanted to see our faces with a _joke_ like that.

  No, seriously, I can't believe at it. Really. I'm shocked.
  .NET is the way to go.

  I'm 37... to old to begin programming in javascript
  (an idea to MS: why not move to fortran... i have heard that you can do anything with fortran... lisp is a good alternative also)

  Tell him to Microsoft stop the civil war inside and adopt .Net Silverlight the platform for windows 8. They can also have the crap javascript, but .Net Silverlight is a must.

  I write apps for WP7, this is madness. I want to port my apps to Windows 8. I will not be doing a complete rewrite.
